CEF’s oil-free, oil-less non-articulating piston compressors are workhorses of the aerospace and defense industry. Available in several sizes and proven to last for decades in extreme operating conditions, CEF compressors provide clean air power to support mission-critical systems.
Dynamically balanced and built with high-performance, corrosion-resistant materials, CEF compressors are designed to minimize weight while maintaining high reliability for comparable performance criteria.
Supported by a worldwide distributor and service network, our compressors are an industry standard for potable water applications across commercial, military, regional, business jet, and helicopter markets. CEF compressors are also used in radar systems, weapon systems, icing systems, and other high-pressure pneumatic applications.
With thousands of units in the field, CEF piston compressors are serviceable with overhaul manuals and spare parts kits.

For the A380, CEF designed a scroll compressor to accommodate the high pressure and flow requirements of the potable water system. Scroll compressors are positive displacement devices that use two inter-fitting Archimedes spiral-shaped scroll members to compress air.
One scroll remains fixed while the other rotates eccentrically. Air is drawn in through a port at the outside diameter and compressed as it moves toward the center, where it exits.
This design offers advantages for aircraft applications. The scroll compressor can use less energy than a piston compressor to produce similar airflow and pressure. Scroll compressors can also run more smoothly, operate more quietly, fit into tighter spaces, and use fewer moving parts, which can increase reliability.
